About Us

kris-glover-homepagePets in Practise is owned by Kris Glover who lives in Burghfield Common, Reading.  She has had dogs since a child, including both working and rescue dogs, and now lives with her Jack Russell Terrier (Scamps) and Collie Cross (Penny).

Her practical experience also benefits from working as a rehomer at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, and being brought up on a farm gave her plenty of opportunity to work with working collies and terriers.  As a result she can appreciate problems exhibited as a result of natural instinct.

Behaviour consultation service to sort out your pet’s behaviour

Behaviour Consultation Service for pets will take place in the dog or cats own home. This service includes a home visit, detailed report, rehabilitation plan plus lifetime phone and email support. Pets in Practise will liaise closely with the pet's own vet to ensure medical causes have been ruled out. Because of Kris, at Pets in Practise, properly certified status as a 'Clinical Animal Behaviourist', all pet insurers, that include behaviour on their policies, will cover part or all of Kris' behaviour consultation service fee. Please contact your pet insurer for more details.

Kris, at Pets in Practise, is the only veterinary approved behaviourist for Burghfield Veterinary Surgery – Burghfield Common, Moor Cottage Veterinary Hospital - Binfield, St Vincents Veterinary Surgery - Wokingham, Sunninghill Vets - Sunninghill and Castle Vets - Reading, Beechwood Veterinary Centre – Woodley and Twyford, as well as BBC Radio Berkshires pet behaviour expert, so you can be guaranteed a first class professional service. Please contact Kris at Pets in Practise for more details.

warning-ex-markBeware of imitations! Always ensure any behaviourist is suitably experienced, qualified and preferably recommended by your own vet. Having owned dogs for a number of years is not sufficient experience alone to work as a behaviour counsellor even if they have been rescue dogs, otherwise anyone who has ever raised children should be suitably qualified to teach or become a social worker. The pet behaviour industry is yet to be regulated and therefore people can advertise as pet behaviourists or pet counsellors without experience and/or relevant academic qualifications. Full members of the APBC (www.apbc.org.uk) are experienced and qualified behaviour counsellors that only work on veterinary referral and therefore you can be assured of an exceptionally high standard. You wouldn’t place yourself in the hands of an unqualified dentist, your child with an unqualified teacher so don’t allow your pet to be treated by an un-experienced pet behaviour counsellor.

Please click here for suggestions on how to ensure you select a behaviourist so will be qualified and experienced enough to help you and your pet.
