Pets in Practise is owned by Kris Glover
(previously Bird) who lives in Burghfield Common,Reading. She has had dogs since a child and developed a keen interest in Canine and Human Pyschology which led her to complete several courses in Animal Behaviour, most recently achieving a BA(Hons) degree. This academic learning includes gaining a First Class Honours Degree in Animal Behaviour Management, completing with distinction, an Advanced Diploma in Animal Behaviour Management, Advanced Canine / Human Interface course with the Animal Care College and Diploma in Animal Behaviour and Training from the Centre of Applied Pet Ethology.
Kris is a Full Member of the APBC (Association for Pet Behaviour Counsellors), member of the Institute for Animal Care Education (IACE) and currently lectures Animal Behaviour to degree students at Berkshire College of Agriculture (BCA).
Pets in Practise is
used by both Burghfield Veterinary Surgery (Burghfield Common) and
Moor Cottage
Veterinary Surgery in Binfield as their referring behaviourist, which further demonstrates the professionalism of
Kris.
Her practical experience benefits from a spell as a rehomer at Battersea Dog
Home in London. She has two dogs, a Jack Russell Terrier and Collie Cross,
so appreciates problems exhibited as a result of natural instinct.
She finds that running puppy classes and improver classes require a level of
behaviour knowledge, as it is essential to understand how and why dogs learn
in order to be able to teach them effectively.
Kris runs Puppy classes as part of the Gwen Bailey Puppy School organisation,
based in Burghfield Common,Reading. Please see www.puppyschool.co.uk
for further information on these classes. Kris also runs Improver classes specifically designed for puppys between the age
of 6 and 12 months and is a member of the Association Of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT).
