Excessive barking
Barking is a normal behaviour for dogs, therefore can not be prevented. There are several reasons for why a dog barks, these include alert barking - informing the owners of a potential intruder.
Request barking - where the dog has learnt to bark to in order to obtain treats or our attention, or simply to be let out or in from the garden.
Alone barking -which can be a result of separation anxiety, so as the dog is upset at being left alone he or she is calling to get her pack members back.
Anxiety barking - a dog who is stressed in his or her surrounds will sometimes bark to relieve this tension, for any of you who have been to a new dog training class this type of barking may have been seen.
Barking is also infectious normally one barking dog will set off another.
Although Anti Bark collars can be used to stop the symptoms of barking, they are best used alongside a good behaviour plan where the cause can be found and therefore addressed.
A good behaviourist should come out and see the problems for him or herself before giving advice on how to solve this barking.
